Hi, I’m Erica, your instructor!

I look forward to welcoming you to one of my classes! The Tai Chi for Health programs I am certified to teach are short, fun and easy to learn. You can gain many health benefits including better balance from practicing these programs.

Tai Chi for Health programs have helped build my confidence, balance and strength. Strength not only in body, but also in mind: When I feel stress or can’t focus, if I stop and practice Tai Chi I am able to let go of stress and put things into perspective more easily.

As many people, I have arthritis and joint pain. The Tai Chi for Health programs that I teach have helped tremendously with keeping me mobile and reducing my need for pain relief medication.

These are just some of the reasons that drive me to share my Tai Chi knowledge with others.

Erica is a Master Trainer in the Tai Chi for Arthritis suite of programs and specializes in teaching Tai Chi for Health Programs:

  • Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention

  • Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis

  • Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2

  • Tai Chi for Rehabilitation

  • Tai Chi for Energy Parts 1 & 2

  • Qigong for Health

  • Tai Chi for Heart Conditions

  • Tai Chi for Memory

  • Tai Chi for Beginners (Yang Style)

Erica also teaches modified versions of some traditional forms:

  • Sun 73 Forms

  • Yang 24 Forms

These forms are taught modified so that people with varied abilities and mobility can enjoy learning and practicing safely.

In January of 2025, I had the great honor to travel to Sydney, Australia to attend training to become a Master Trainer in the Tai Chi for Arthritis series of programs with the Tai Chi for Health Institute.

My teaching journey with the Tai Chi for Health Institute began in 2003, but, it would be another 5 years before I would meet the founder of the Institute, Dr. Paul Lam in October of 2008. In the spring of 2009, I was awarded a scholarship to attend my first June workshop (Dr. Lam’s annual workshop in the U.S.) and quickly began organizing a workshop for Dr. Lam in Chicago, where I hosted him for a Depth of Tai Chi for Arthritis workshop. I have since organized workshops for and hosted Dr. Lam a couple more times.
